What is stress?
When our brain perceives a situation as threatening or uncomfortable it usually reacts to survive or overcome that situation. This physiological reaction is called stress and it is a natural and necessary response. However, when the mechanisms that cause stress remain over time the person suffers an excess of tension and alertness. Too much alertness levels in the day to day causes our nervous, immune and endocrine systems to become exhausted and it causes illnesses and pathological abnormalities that prevent the organism from working properly. Currently, the main stress factors are associated to psychological or emotional aspects, and many times are related to family or working issues.
