Integrative Rheumatology

This unit aims to improve and heal rheumatologic diseases affecting the locomotor system and which include bone diseases (osteoporosis), joint and articular cartilage diseases (osteoarthritis, inflammatory rheumatoid illnesses), and tendons diseases (tendonitis) and muscle diseases (myalgia, fibromyalgia, myositis, contractures, and low back pain).

Inflammatory rheumatoid illnesses, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and gout, among other diseases, are progressive inflammatory diseases that affect the person's functional ability for activities of dailyliving.

Although conventional drug treatment stops their progression, it also has a high degree of toxicity and numerous side effects. Such treatments fail to provide an effective cure and at best only stop the progression of the disease while the patient is taking medication.

Osteoarthritis is the breakdown of cartilage in the joints. It affects the person’s functional ability for activities of dailyliving, including work and leisure. Conventional drug treatment has a low degree of effectiveness in reducing its progression, is highly toxic and has strong side effects.
